New Partnership Announcement

We are delighted to announce that we have welcomed the British School in the Netherlands as our official Educational & Resourcing partner.

Head of Extra Curricular Sports at the BSN SSV site Tom Archer said, ‘We are delighted to begin this partnership with the Nederlandse Rugby League Bond.  The school has had a close association with Dutch rugby league with previous students playing rugby league, as well as officiating, and one of our members of staff, Kane Krlic is currently the most successful Head Coach in Dutch Rugby history.  Following the visit of the Rugby League World Cup to the BSN in 2019, it was great to see the interest from a wide range of students and the diversity of rugby league, particularly with the upcoming World Cup being the first to involve male, female and wheelchair rugby, reflects the aims and values of the whole school and community.’

Through this partnership,

  • The Dutch team will prepare for their upcoming European Championships Qualifiers in Turkey at the BSN SSV site.
  • The team’s new training shirts will have the BSN name and logo.
  • Students at the BSN will also have a chance to participate in coaching and refereeing courses for Rugby League, plus additional opportunities within the sport.

‘We wish the NRLB all the best in their quest to qualify for the European Championships and are proud that we can play a part in their progress along the way.’

Dutch Team Manager Matthew Rigby added, “the NRLB are excited to have our first educational & facilities partnership with BSN. The partnership will not only give us the chance to use the World Class facilities but also to offer opportunities for students to get involved in Rugby League both on and off the field.”

Dutch Head Coach Kane Krlic, who also works at the BSN, said, “It is exciting for the NRLB to have a partnership with the British School of the Netherlands. Not only does this provide us with a great facility to prepare for the European Championships, but it also creates a longer-term programme where the NRLB can provide more opportunities for students at the BSN to get involved in Rugby League. Having now worked at the BSN for a number of years, the school creates an environment for the students to flourish in many different settings, and I am sure the NRLB can aid this further.”

The shirts will be available to purchase at our clubshop and you can follow the progress of the Dutch team via our Twitter handle (@NL_Rugby_League) and through our website (rugbyleague.nl).
