Today, one of our match officials, Matt Rigby, made history by being the first NRLB Match Official to officiate in the Betfred Women’s Super League, between London Broncos and the Army RL.
The game took place at the Richmond Athletics Association, with the Army RL winning 18-32.
Matt who has been unable to officiate in the Netherlands during the pandemic, took up officiating in the RFL London South East & Southern Conference leagues in the interim, was awarded the appointment on Thursday.
Unfortunately, this week none of our match officials were included in the International Rugby League’s Emerging Match Officials Panel. Despite this, we are continuing to support our match officials with a number of development opportunities, for them to reach the international level.
We look forward to continuing our momentum for new referee recruitment, with new courses to be announced in the coming months.
